ヨハネによる福音書第18章（欽定訳）

１８章

1.　イエスがこれらの言葉を語ると、彼は彼の弟子たちと一緒に、かのキデロン川を越えて行かれた。そこには園があって、彼と彼の弟子たちはそこに入って行った。

2.　そして、ユダ、彼を売り渡していた者も、その場所を知っていた。イエスはしばしば彼の弟子たちと会合をしていたからである。

3.　その時、祭司の長たちやファリサイ派の人々の所から、兵隊や役人を受けていたユダは、ランタンやたいまつや武器を持ち、〔彼らを連れて〕そこにやって来た。

4.　そこで、イエスは彼に振りかかってくることを全て悟り、前に進んで行って彼らに仰せになった。汝らは誰を捜しているのか？」

5.　彼らは彼に答えた。「ナザレのイエスだ。」イエスは彼らに仰せになった。「それは私だ。」そして、彼を売り渡したユダも、彼らと一緒に立っていた。

6.　ところで、彼が彼らに「それは私だ」と仰せになったとき、彼らは後ろに引き戻され、そして、地に投げ倒された。

7.　その時、彼は彼らに再びお尋ねになった。「汝らは、誰を求めているのか？」そして、彼らは言った。「ナザレのイエス。」

8.　イエスはお答えになった。「私は汝らに、それは私だ言っている。汝らは私を求めているのだから、これらの者たちは行かせなさい。」

9.　それは、かの仰せが実現するためであった。彼はこう仰せになっていた。「あなたが私にお与えになった者を、私は一人も失わなかった。」

10.　その時、シモン・ペテロは剣を抜いて、大祭司の僕に振り下ろし、そして撃った。そして彼の右の耳を切り落とした。その僕の名はマルコスであった。

11.　そこで、イエスはペテロに仰せになった。「汝の剣を、その鞘におさめなさい。私の父が私にお授けになった杯は受けなくてはならないではないか？」

12.　その時、兵士たちやユダヤ人たちの隊長や役人たちはイエスを捕えて彼を拘束した。

13.　そして、彼らは彼を最初にアンナスの所に連行した。彼がその年の大祭司であった、カヤファスの義父であったからである。

14.　ところで、カヤファスは、ユダヤ人たちに、一人の人がこの民のために死ぬ事は都合の良い事だと、助言した人物であった。

15.　そして、シモン・ペテロはイエスについていった。また、もう一人の弟子も同じようにした。さて、その弟子は大祭司の知人であった。そして、イエスと一緒に、大祭司の中庭に入って行った。

16.　しかし、ペテロは外の戸口のところに立っていた。そこで、もう一人の、大祭司の知人であった人が出て行って、戸の番をしていた女性に語り、ペテロを中に通してやった。

17.　その時、戸の番をしていた僕の少女はペテロに言った。「あなたは、この男と一緒にいませんでしたか？」彼は言った。「私ではない。」

18.　ところで、炭で火をおこしていた僕たちと役人たちは、そこに立っていた。寒かったので、彼らは暖を取っていたのである。そして、ペテロは彼らと一緒に立っていて、暖を取っていた。

19.　その時、大祭司はイエスに彼の弟子たちと、彼の教義について尋ねた。

20.　イエスは彼にお答えになった。「私ははっきりとこの世界に語った。私はいつもシナゴーグや神殿で教えていた。そこではユダヤ人たちといつも会っている。そして、私は何も密かに語ってきたことはない。

21.　どうして汝らは私に尋ねるのか？私が語ってきた事を聞いた人に尋ねなさい。確かに、彼らは私が語った事を知っているのだから。」

22.　彼がこれらのことを仰せになったその時、近くに立っていた、役人たちの一人がイエスを平手で打って言った。「お前は大祭司様に、そんな答え方をするのか？」

23.　イエスは彼にお答えになった。「もし私が悪い事を言ったなら、その悪事についての証人を立てなさい。しかし、もし良いなら、どうして汝は私を打つのか？」

24.　その時、アンナスは彼を拘束して大祭司カヤファスのところに送った。

25.　ところで、シモン・ペテロは立って暖を取っていた。そこで、彼らは彼に言った。「君も彼の弟子たちの一人ではないのか？」彼はそれを否定して言った。「私は違う！」

26.　大祭司の僕の一人で、ペテロに耳を切り落とされた人の親戚である人が言った。「私はお前があの園に彼と一緒にいたのを見たではないか？」

27.　その時、ペテロは再び否定した。するとすぐに雄鶏が鳴いた。

28.　その時、彼らはイエスをカヤファスの所から、プラエトリウム[1]に連行した。早朝であった。しかし、彼らは自分たちはプラエトリウムに入って行かなかった。汚れを受けないで、パスカを食べるためにである。

29.　その時、ピラトは彼らの所に出て来て言った。「諸君は、この男について何を告訴しているのか？」

30.　彼らは答えて彼に言った。「もし彼が悪事をする者でないなら、私たちが彼をあなたに引き渡すようなことは致しません。」

31.　そこで、ピラトは彼らに言った。「諸君が彼を連れて行き、諸君の法[2]に従って裁きたまえ。」それで、ユダヤ人たちは彼に言った。「誰であっても私たちが殺すことは法に反しています。」

32.　そのようにユダヤ人たちが言ったのは、彼が語っていた事、〔すなわち〕彼がどんな死によって死なれるかをお示しになった事が実現するためであった。

33.　その時、ピラトはプラエトリウムに再び入り、イエスを呼び、そして彼に言った。「お前はこのユダヤの王なのか？」

34.　イエスは彼にお答えになった。「汝はこのことについて、自分から語っているのか、または他の人が私について汝に教えたのか？」

35.　ピラトは答えた。「私はユダヤ人か？お前の国とあの祭司の長たちがお前を私に引き渡したのだ。お前は何をしたのか？」

36.　イエスはお答えになった。「私の王国は、この世界のものではない。もし私の王国がこの世界のものであったなら、私の僕たちは戦って、私があのユダヤ人たちに引き渡されないようにしただろう。しかし、今は、私の王国はここからのものではない。」

37.　それでピラトは彼に言った。「それで、お前は王なのか？」イエスはお答えになった。「あなたが言っている事は正しい。私は王だ。なぜなら、そのために私は生まれてきたのであり、またこのために私はこの世界に来た。それは、真理を証しするためだ。真理にある人は、皆私の声を聞いている。」

38.　ピラトは彼に言った。「真理とは何なのか？」そして、彼がこのことを言うと、彼はまたユダヤ人たちの所に出て行った。そして彼らに言った。「私は、彼には落ち度が全くないことがわかった。

39.　さて、諸君のためにこのパスカに誰かを釈放する事が慣例となっている。それで、諸君は私にこのユダヤ人の王を釈放する事を求めているのか？」

40.　その時、彼らは再び叫んで言った。「この男ではない。バラバだ！」さて、バラバは強盗であった。

Joh 18:1  Having spoken these words, Jesus went out with His disciples over the winter stream Kidron, where there was a garden. He and His disciples entered into it.

Joh 18:2  And Judas who betrayed Him also knew the place. For Jesus oftentimes went there with His disciples.

Joh 18:3  Then Judas, having received a band and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.

Joh 18:4  Then Jesus, knowing all things that were coming upon Him, went out and said to them, Whom do you seek?

Joh 18:5  They answered Him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus said to them, I AM! And Judas who betrayed Him also stood with them.

Joh 18:6  Then as soon as He had said to them, I AM, they went backward and fell to the ground.

Joh 18:7  Then He asked them again, Whom do you seek? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

Joh 18:8  Jesus answered, I have told you that I AM. Therefore if you seek Me, let these go away;

Joh 18:9  (that the word might be fulfilled which He spoke, "Of those whom You have given Me, I have lost not one of them").

Joh 18:10  Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant and cut off his right ear. And the servant's name was Malchus.

Joh 18:11  Then Jesus said to Peter, Put up your sword into the sheath. The cup which My Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?

Joh 18:12  Then the band, and the chiliarch, and under-officers of the Jews together seized Jesus and bound Him.

Joh 18:13  And they led Him away to Annas first, for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was the high priest that year.

Joh 18:14  And Caiaphas was he who gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.

Joh 18:15  And Simon Peter and another disciple followed Jesus. That disciple was known to the high priest, and he went in with Jesus into the court of the high priest.

Joh 18:16  But Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple went out, the one who was known to the high priest, and spoke to her who kept the door and brought Peter in.

Joh 18:17  Then the girl who kept the door said to Peter, Are you not also one of this man's disciples? He said, I am not.

Joh 18:18  And the servants and officers who had made a fire of coals stood there, for it was cold. And they warmed themselves. And Peter stood with them and warmed himself.

Joh 18:19  Then the high priest asked Jesus of His disciples and of His teaching.

Joh 18:20  Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in the synagogue and in the temple, where the Jews always resort, and I have said nothing in secret.

Joh 18:21  Why do you ask Me? Ask those who heard me what I have said to them. Behold, they know what I said.

Joh 18:22  And when He had spoken this way, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Do you answer the high priest so?

Joh 18:23  Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?

Joh 18:24  Then Annas had sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.

Joh 18:25  And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. Then they said to him, Are you not also one of his disciples? He denied and said, I am not.

Joh 18:26  One of the servants of the high priest, being kinsman to him whose ear Peter cut off, said, Did I not see you in the garden with him?

Joh 18:27  Peter then denied again. And immediately a cock crowed.

Joh 18:28  Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas into the praetorium. And it was early. And they did not go into the praetorium, that they should not be defiled, and that they might eat the Passover.

Joh 18:29  Then Pilate went out to them and said, What charge do you bring against this man?

Joh 18:30  They answered and said to him, If he were not an evildoer, then we would not have delivered him up to you.

Joh 18:31  Then Pilate said to them, You take him and judge him according to your Law. Then the Jews said to him, It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death

Joh 18:32  (that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which He spoke signifying what death He was about to die).

Joh 18:33  Then Pilate entered into the praetorium again and called Jesus and said to him, Are you the king of the Jews?

Joh 18:34  Jesus answered him, Do you say this thing of yourself, or did others say it to you about Me?

Joh 18:35  Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you to me. What have you done?

Joh 18:36  Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would fight so that I might not be delivered to the Jews. But now My kingdom is not from here.

Joh 18:37  Pilate then said to Him, Are you a king then? Jesus answered, You say it that I am a king. To this end I was born, and for this cause I came into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.

Joh 18:38  Pilate said to Him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, I find no fault in him.

Joh 18:39  But you have a custom that I should release one to you at the Passover. Then do you desire that I release to you the king of the Jews?

Joh 18:40  Then they all cried again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas! But Barabbas was a robber.

19章

1.　それから、ピラトはイエスを連れて来て、彼を鞭打った。

2.　そして、兵士たちは棘のある植物で一つの冠を作って、それを彼の頭に置いた。また、彼らは彼に紫色の外套を着せた。

3.　それから彼らは言った「ハイル、ユダヤの王様に！」そして、彼らは彼を自分たちの手で撃った。

4.　そこで、ピラトはまた出てきて、彼らに言った。「見よ、私は彼を諸君の所に引き出している。私が彼には何も落ち度がないと考えている事を、諸君が知るためだ。」

5.　その時、イエスは棘の冠と紫の外套を着て出てきた。そしてピラトは彼らに言った。「見よ、この男だ！」

6.　そこで、祭司の長たちと役人達が彼を見ると、彼らは大声で叫んで、言った。「十字架だ。彼を。十字架だ。彼を！」ピラトは彼らに言った。「諸君が彼を連れて行って、彼を十字架につければよい。私は彼には何の落ち度も見当たらないのだから。」

7.　ユダヤ人たちは彼に答えた。「私たちには法があります。私たちの法によれば、彼は死ななければなりません。彼は自分自身を天の神の息子としたのですから。」

8.　そこで、ピラトはそのことを聞くと、彼はますます恐れた。

9.　そして、もう一度プラエトリウムに入ってイエスに言った。「お前はどこの出身か？」しかし、イエスは彼に何もお答えにならなかった。

10.　その時ピラトは彼に言った。「お前は何も私に言わないのか？お前は私にお前を十字架につける権威があり、またお前を釈放する権威があることを知らないのか？」

11.　イエスはお答えになった。「汝は、それが上から汝に授けられていたものでないなら、私に対してまったく権威がない。だから、私を汝の手に引き渡した者の罪は更に大きい。」

12.　その時から、ピラトは彼を釈放しようと思った。しかし、ユダヤ人たちは大声で叫んで言った。「もし、あなたがこの男を行かせるようなことがあれば、あなたはカエサルの友ではありません。誰でも、自分（彼）自身を王と言っている者は、カエサルに逆らっています。」

13.　ピラトはそれを聞くと、イエスを連れ出し、そして宮殿の中にる、敷石、ヘブル語でガバサという裁きの座についた。

14.　ところで、その日はパスカの準備の日であり、そして、おおよそ第六の時であった。そして、彼はユダヤ人たちに言った。「見よ、諸君の王だ！」

15.　しかし、彼らは大声で叫びだした。「取り除け、彼を、取り除け、彼を！十字架にかけよ、彼を！」ピラトは彼らに言った。「私が諸君の王を十字架に？」祭司の長たちは答えた。「私たちには、カエサル以外に王はいません！」

23.　さて、兵士たちはイエスを十字架につけるとき、彼の着物を奪って、それぞれが一つづつになるように四つに分けた。またそのチューニックもそうした。ところでチューニックは縫い目がなく、上から一つのものとして織ってあった。

24.　そこで、彼らは互いに言い合った。「それは裂かないで誰のものにするのか、くじを投げよう。」それは、御言葉が実現するためであったが、それにこう言っている。「彼らは私の着物を分けた。また、私の着物のために、彼らはくじを投げた。」それで、兵士たちはこれらの事をしたのである。

25.　さて、そのイエスの十字架の近くに、彼の母が立っていた。また、彼の母の姉妹、クロパの妻マリヤ、そしてマグダレーネのマリヤがいた。

26.　イエスが彼の母をご覧になり、また彼が愛しておられたあの弟子が近くに立っているのをご覧になって、彼は彼の母に仰せになった。「女の人、御覧なさい、あなたの息子です！」

27.　それから彼は弟子に仰せになった。「ご覧、汝の母を！」そこで、その時からその弟子は彼女を自分の家に連れて行った。

28.　このことの後、イエスは全てが今や完成して、御言葉が実現することを悟られたので、仰せになった。「私は渇いている！」

29.　ところで、すえたワインが一杯にはいった器がそこに置いてあった。そして、彼らはスポンジに発酵したワインを満たしてそれを葦にとりつけ、そして彼の口のところに差し出した。

29.　そして、イエスはその酢をお受けになると、彼は仰せになった。「完了した！」そうして彼の頭を垂れ、ご自分の（彼の）霊をお委ねになった。

31.　その日は準備の日であったので、体は安息日に十字架の上に残して置けなかった。（その安息日は最も大切な日であった）ユダヤ人たちは、彼らの足を砕いて取り去る事ができるようにとピラトに願った。

32.　そこで、兵士たちが来て、最初の者の両足を砕き、また彼と一緒に十字架につけられているもう一人の足を砕いた。

33.　しかし、イエスの所に来て見ると、彼はすでに死んでいることが分かったので、彼らは彼の両足を砕かなかった。

34.　しかし、兵士たちの一人が彼の脇を一本の槍で貫いた。すると、すぐに血と水とが流れて出てきた。

35.　そして、見ていた者が証言していて、彼の証言は真実である。また、彼は自分が真実を語っている事を知っている。それはあなたがたが信じるようになるためである。

36.　なぜなら、これらの事が起こったのは、「彼の骨は一本でも砕かれない。」という御言葉が実現するためであった。

37.　そして、他の御言葉は言っている。「彼らは彼らが貫いた者を見上げる。」

38.　この事の後、あのユダヤ人たちを恐れていたので、密かにであったが、イエスの弟子の一人であった、アリマサヤのヨセフがピラトにイエスの体を引き取らせてもらえるように願った。そこで、ピラトは彼に許可を与えた。そこで彼は来て、イエスの体を運んだ。

39.　また、ニコデモ、（最初に彼の所に夜来た者であったが）彼も来て、没薬とアロエの混ぜたものを約百ポンド持ってきた。

40.　彼らはイエスの体を取り、ユダヤ人たちの埋葬の習慣にしたがって、香料と一緒に細長い麻の布を蒔きつけた。

41.　さて、彼が十字架につけられた所は一つの園の近くであった。そして、園には新しい、誰も置かれた事のない一つの墓があった。

42.　そこで、彼らはイエスをそこに置いた。なぜなら、ユダヤ人の準備の日であり、墓が近くにあったからである。

Joh 19:1  Then Pilate therefore took Jesus and flogged Him.

Joh 19:2  And the soldiers plaited a crown of thorns and put it on His head. And they put a purple robe on Him,

Joh 19:3  and said, Hail, King of the Jews! And they struck Him with their hands.

Joh 19:4  Then Pilate went out again and said to them, Behold, I bring him out to you so that you may know that I find no fault in him.

Joh 19:5  Then Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate said to them, Behold the man!

Joh 19:6  Then when the chief priests and under-officers saw Him, they cried out, saying, Crucify! Crucify Him! Pilate said to them, You take Him and crucify Him, for I find no fault in him.

Joh 19:7  The Jews answered him, We have a Law, and by our Law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

Joh 19:8  Then when Pilate heard that saying, he was the more afraid.

Joh 19:9  And he went again into the praetorium and said to Jesus, Where are you from? But Jesus gave him no answer.

Joh 19:10  Then Pilate said to him, Do you not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to crucify you, and I have authority to release you?

Joh 19:11  Jesus answered, You could have no authority against Me unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.

Joh 19:12  From this time, Pilate sought to release Him. But the Jews cried out, saying, If you let this man go, you are not Caesar's friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.

Joh 19:13  Then when Pilate heard that saying, he brought Jesus out and sat down in the judgment seat at a place called the Pavement (but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha).

Joh 19:14  And it was the preparation of the Passover, and about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, Behold your king!

Joh 19:15  But they cried out, Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him! Pilate said to them, Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

Joh 19:16  Then he delivered Him up to them that He might be crucified. And they took Jesus and led Him away.

Joh 19:17  And bearing His cross, He went out to a place called, The Place of a Skull (which is called in the Hebrew, Golgotha)

Joh 19:18  where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the middle.

Joh 19:19  And Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Joh 19:20  Then many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.

Joh 19:21  Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, Do not write, the king of the Jews, but that he said, I am king of the Jews.

Joh 19:22  Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

Joh 19:23  Then when they had crucified Jesus, the soldiers took His garments and made four parts, one part to each soldier; and also His tunic. And the tunic was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

Joh 19:24  Therefore they said among themselves, Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to find whose it shall be (that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says, "They parted my garments among them, and for my garment they cast lots"). Therefore the soldiers did these things.

Joh 19:25  And His mother stood by the cross of Jesus, and His mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

Joh 19:26  Then when Jesus saw His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, Woman, behold your son!

Joh 19:27  Then He said to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that hour that disciple took her into his own home.

Joh 19:28  After this, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, I thirst.

Joh 19:29  Then a vessel full of vinegar was set. And they filled a sponge with sour wine and put it upon hyssop, and put it to His mouth.

Joh 19:30  Then when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, It is finished! And He bowed His head and gave up the spirit.

Joh 19:31  Then the Jews, because it was Preparation, begged Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away, so that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the sabbath. For that sabbath was a high day.

Joh 19:32  Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with Him.

Joh 19:33  But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.

Joh 19:34  But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a lance, and instantly there came out blood and water.

Joh 19:35  And he who saw bore record, and his record is true. And he knows that he speaks true, so that you might believe.

Joh 19:36  For these things were done so that the Scripture might be fulfilled, "Not a bone of Him shall be broken."

Joh 19:37  And again another Scripture says, "They shall look upon Him whom they pierced."

Joh 19:38  And after these things, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus (but secretly for fear of the Jews) begged of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate gave permission. Then he came and took the body of Jesus.

Joh 19:39  And Nicodemus also came, who at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.

Joh 19:40  Then they took the body of Jesus and wound it with linens with the spices, as is the custom of the Jews to bury.

Joh 19:41  And in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one yet had been placed.

Joh 19:42  There, then, because of the Preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was near, they laid Jesus.

２１章

1.　これらのことの後、ティベリアの海で、イエスはご自分を再び弟子たちに現わされた。

2.　シモン・ペテロ、トゥインといわれるトーマス、ガリラヤのカナのナサナエル、ゼベディの息子たち、また、彼の弟子たちのうちのもう二人が一緒にいた。

3.　シモン・ペテロが彼らに言った。「おれは漁に行くよ。」彼らは彼に言った。「自分たちもお前と一緒に行こう。」彼らはすぐに舟に乗り込んで出て行ったがその夜、彼らは何も獲れなかった。

4.　しかし、朝が来ると、イエスが浜辺に立ちっておられたが、弟子たちはまだそれがイエスだと知らなかった。

5.　その時、イエスは彼らに仰せになった。こたち、何か食べ物があるか？」彼らは彼に答えた。「いえ。」　

6.　そして、彼は彼らに仰せになった。「網を舟の右側に投げてごらん。そしたら汝らは何か見つけるから。」そこで彼らが投げた。すると、彼らはそれを引き上げる事ができなかった。魚の大群のためであった。

7.　そこで、イエスが愛されていた弟子がペテロに言った。「主だ！」さて、シモン・ペテロは、主だ、というのを聞いて、彼は外着を着て（彼はそれを脱いでいた）海に飛び込んだ。

8.　しかし、他の弟子たちは小舟にいて（なぜなら、彼らは陸からそれほど離れていない、およそ二百キュービットの所にいた）網を魚と一緒に引いて行った。

9.　さて、彼らが陸に着くとすぐに、彼らはそこに炭火で火が起されているのを見た。そして魚がそれにかけられ、また、パンもあった。

10.　イエスは彼らに仰せになった。「汝らが今獲った魚の幾つかを持ってきなさい」

11.　シモン・ペテロは上がってきて、そして網を陸に引き上げた。１５３匹の大きな魚で一杯になっており、そんなにたくさんいたが、網は裂けないでいた。

12.　イエスは彼らに仰せになった。「来て、朝食をとりなさい。」もはや、弟子たちの誰も、あえて彼に「あなたは誰ですか？」と問う者はいなかった。それがイエスであることが分かっていたからである。

13.　そこで、イエスは来てパンを取って彼らにそれを与え、また魚も同様にされた。

14.　これは、イエスが死から復活した後で、ご自分を彼の弟子たちにお現わしになった三回目のことである。

15.　彼らが朝食を食べると、イエスはシモン・ペテロに仰せになった。「シモン、ヨナの息子よ、汝はこれらの者たちよりも、私を愛しているか[1]？」彼は彼に答えた。「そうです、主よ、あなたは私があなたをお慕い[2]していることをご存知です。」彼は彼に仰せになった。「私の子羊たちを養いなさい。」

16.　彼はまた２度目に彼に仰せになった。「シモン、ヨナの息子よ。汝はわたしを愛しているか？」彼は彼に答えた。「はい。主よ。あなたはわたしがあなたをお慕いしていることをご存知です。」彼は彼に仰せになった。私の羊の世話をしなさい。」

19.　この事を彼が仰せになったのは、彼がどのような死に方で天の神の栄光をお返しするようになるかをお示しになったのである。彼は彼に仰せになった。「私についてきなさい。」

20.　その時、ペテロは周囲を振り返って、イエスに愛された弟子がついて来るのを見た。その人はまた晩餐の時に、彼の胸によりかかって、「主よ、あなたを裏切るのは誰ですか？」と言った人である。

21.　ペテロは彼を見て、イエスに言った。「でも、主よ、この男はどうなんですか？」

22.　イエスは彼に仰せになった。「もし、私が来るまで彼が残っていることを望んでいるとしても、汝に何だというのか？汝は私に[4]ついてきなさい。」

23.　その時、この弟子は死なないだろうという話が、兄弟たちの間に広がっていった。しかし、イエスは彼が死なないということを仰せになったのではない。「もし、私が来るまで彼が残っていることを望んでいるとしても、汝に何だというのか？」と仰せになったのである。

24.　これらの事を証し、そして書いたのは、この弟子である。そして、私たちは彼の証しが真実である事を知っている。

25.　そして、他にも多くのイエスのなさったことがあるほなよの。もし、それらを一つ一つ書いていくならば、この世界には、その本をみみ納めきれないと、私は思う。アーメン。

Joh 21:1  After these things Jesus revealed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. And He revealed Himself this way:

Joh 21:2  Simon Peter, and Thomas called the Twin, and Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together.

Joh 21:3  Simon Peter said to them, I am going out to fish. They said to him, We will go with you also. They went out and entered into a boat immediately. And that night they caught nothing.

Joh 21:4  But when the morning had come, Jesus stood on the shore. But the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.

Joh 21:5  Then Jesus said to them, Children, do you have anything to eat? They answered Him, No.

Joh 21:6  And He said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find. Therefore they cast, and now they no longer had the strength to draw, from the multitude of fish.

Joh 21:7  Then that disciple whom Jesus loves said to Peter, It is the Lord! Then hearing that it is the Lord, Simon Peter girded on his coat (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea.

Joh 21:8  And the other disciples came in a little boat (for they were not far from land, only about two hundred cubits), dragging the net of fish.

Joh 21:9  Then when they went up on the land, they saw a fire of coals there, and a fish lying on it, and bread.

Joh 21:10  And Jesus said to them, Bring from the fish which you have now caught.

Joh 21:11  Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of big fish, a hundred and fifty-three. And though there were so many, the net was not torn.

Joh 21:12  Jesus said to them, Come, break fast. And none of the disciples dared to ask Him, Who are You? knowing that it was the Lord.

Joh 21:13  Then Jesus came and took the bread and gave to them, and in the same way the little fish.

Joh 21:14  This is now the three times Jesus was revealed to His disciples, He being risen from the dead.

Joh 21:15  Then when they broke fast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You. He said to him, Feed My lambs.

Joh 21:16  He said to him the second time, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You. He said to him, Feed My sheep.

Joh 21:17  He said to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me? Peter was grieved because He said to him a third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know all things, You know that I love You. Jesus said to him, Feed My sheep.

Joh 21:18  Truly, truly, I say to you, When you were young, you girded yourself and walked where you wished. But when you grow old, you shall stretch forth your hands and another shall gird you and carry you where you do not wish.

Joh 21:19  He spoke this signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, Follow Me.

Joh 21:20  Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following (the one who also leaned on His breast at supper, and said, Lord, who is he who betrays You?)

Joh 21:21  Seeing him, Peter said to Jesus, Lord, and what of this one?

Joh 21:22  Jesus said to him, If I desire that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.

Joh 21:23  Then this saying went abroad among the brothers, that that disciple should not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him, He shall not die, but, If I desire that he remain until I come, what is that to you?

Joh 21:24  This is the disciple who testifies of these things and wrote these things. And we know that his testimony is true.

Joh 21:25  And there are also many things, whatever Jesus did, which, if they should be written singly, I suppose the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.

２０章

1.　ところで、その週の最初の日にマグダレーネのマリヤは墓に、朝早く、まだ暗い間に行った。そして墓から石が取り除かれているのを見た。

2.　その時、彼女は走ってシモン・ペテロと、もう一人の、イエスが愛しておられた弟子の所に行った。そして彼らに言った。「誰かが（彼らが）主を墓から持ち去ってしまいました。そのうえ、私たちには彼らが主（彼）をどこに置いたのか分かりません。」

3.　そこで、ペテロともう一人の弟子は出て行って、墓に行った。

4.　〔そこで〕彼らは二人とも一緒に走っていったもう一人の弟子の方がペテロを追い越して、まず墓に入った。

5.　そして彼がかがんで中をのぞくと、麻の布がそこに置かれているのが見えた。彼はまだ中に入っては行かなかった。

6.　それから、シモン・ペテロが彼に続いて来て、墓の中に入って行った。そして彼はそれらの麻の布がそこに置かれているのを見た。

7.　また、彼の頭にまかれていた頭巾は、それらの麻の布とは別の所に置かれてそれぞれが一箇所にたたまれていた。

17.　イエスは彼女に仰せになった。「私にしがみついてはいけない。私はまだ私の父の所に上っていっていないからだ。しかし、私の兄弟達の所に行って彼らに言いなさい。『私は私の父、また、汝らの父、私の天の神、また汝らの天の神の所に上って行く。』と」

18.　マグダレーネのマリアは来て、弟子たちに、彼女が主とお会いしていた事、そして彼がこれらの事を彼女に仰せになったことを話した。

30.　そして、この書に書いていないが、イエスは他にも実に多くの徴を彼の弟子たちのいる所でなさった。

31.　しかし、これらの事が書かれたのは、あなたがたがイエスはキリストであり、天の神の御子であることを信じるため、そして信仰によってあなたがたが彼の御名によって命を得るためである。

Joh 20:1  The first of the sabbaths Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, darkness still being on it, and she saw the stone taken away from the tomb.

Joh 20:2  Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.

Joh 20:3  Therefore Peter and that other disciple went forth and came to the tomb.

Joh 20:4  So they both ran together. And the other disciple outran Peter and came first to the tomb.

Joh 20:5  And stooping down he saw the linens lying, yet he did not go in.

Joh 20:6  Then Simon Peter came following him and went into the tomb. And he saw the linens lying there.

Joh 20:7  And the grave-cloth that was on His head was not lying with the linens, but was wrapped up in one place by itself.

Joh 20:8  Therefore, then, that other disciple also went in, the one who came first to the tomb. And he saw and believed.

Joh 20:9  For as yet they did not know the Scripture that He must rise again from the dead.

Joh 20:10  Then the disciples went away again to themselves.

Joh 20:11  But Mary stood outside of the tomb, weeping. And as she wept, she stooped down into the tomb.

Joh 20:12  And she saw two angels in white sitting there, the one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

Joh 20:13  And they said to her, Woman, why do you weep? She said to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.

Joh 20:14  And when she had said this, she turned backward and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus.

Joh 20:15  Jesus said to her, Woman, why do you weep? Whom do you seek? Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, Sir, if you have carried Him away from here, tell me where you have laid Him and I will take Him away.

Joh 20:16  Jesus said to her, Mary! She turned herself and said to Him, Rabboni! (which is to say, Master!)

Joh 20:17  Jesus said to her, Do not touch Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father. But go to My brothers and say to them, I ascend to My Father and Your Father, and to My God and your God.

Joh 20:18  Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that He had spoken these things to her.

Joh 20:19  Then the same day at evening, being the first of the sabbaths, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, Peace to you!

Joh 20:20  And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

Joh 20:21  Then Jesus said to them again, Peace to you. As My Father has sent Me, even so I send you.

Joh 20:22  And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.

Joh 20:23  Of whomever sins you remit, they are remitted to them. Of whomever sins you retain, they are retained.

Joh 20:24  But Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came.

Joh 20:25  The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I shall see the print of the nails in His hands, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into His side, I will not believe.

Joh 20:26  And after eight days the disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace to you!

Joh 20:27  Then He said to Thomas, Reach your finger here and behold My hands; and reach your hand here and thrust it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.

Joh 20:28  And Thomas answered and said to Him, My Lord and my God!

Joh 20:29  Jesus said to him, Thomas, because you have seen Me you have believed. Blessed are they who have not seen and have believed.

Joh 20:30  And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book.

Joh 20:31  But these are written so that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have life in His name.

4.　イエスは彼女に仰せになった。「女の人、あなたは私と何の関係がありますか？私の時はまだきていません。」

5.　彼の母はその僕たちに言った。「彼があなたたちに言う事は、何でもして下さい。」

6.　さて、ユダヤ人たちの清め（の慣習）に従って、そこに石できた水がめが六つあった。７５リッターから１１０リッターくらいは入るものであった。

7.　イエスは彼らに仰せになった。「水がめを水で満たしなさい。」そこで、彼らはそれらを口まで一杯に満たした。

8.　そして、彼は彼らに仰せになった。「さあ、いくらか汲みなさい。そしてそれをこの宴の幹事のところに持っていきなさい。」それで、彼らは持って行った。

9.　宴会の幹事がワインになった水を味見した時、また、それがどこから来たのかを知らなかったが、（しかし、水を汲んでいた僕たちは知っていたが）幹事は花婿を呼んで

10.　彼に言った。「だれでも最初に良いワインを出して、それからお客達に酔いがまわったから、その時により悪い物を出すものだ。あなたはよいワインを今まで取っておいたのですか。」

11.　イエスは、徴の始めをガリラヤのカナで現わし、そして、彼の栄光を現わされた。そこで、彼の弟子たちは彼を信じた。

14.　さて、彼は神殿で牛や羊や鳩を売っている人々や、両替人たちが商売しているのをご覧になった。

16.　そして彼は鳩売りの人々に仰せになった。「これらのものを持ち去れ！私の父の家を商売人の家にするな！」

17.　その時、彼の弟子たちは、「おまえの家を思う熱意が私を食い尽くした。」と書いてあるのを思い起こした。

18.　そこでユダヤ人たちは答えて彼に言った。「あなたはわれわれにどんな徴を見せるのか、こんなことをするからには？」

19.　イエスは答えて彼らに仰せになった。「この神殿を破壊してみよ。そうしたら私は三日の内にそれを建て直そう。」

20.　その時そのユダヤ人達は言った「この神殿を建設するのに四十六年もかかっているのにあなたはそれを三日で建て直すのか？」

21.　しかし、彼はご自分の（彼の）体である神殿について仰せになっていたのである。

22.　そういうわけで、彼が死から復活した時、彼の弟子たちは彼がこのことを彼らに仰せになっていたのを思い起した。そして、聖書とイエスが仰せになった言葉を信じた。

23.　ところで、彼がエルサレムにおられたときはパスカの時であり、祭りの最中であったので、多くの人々が彼がなさった徴を見て、彼の御名を信じた。

24.　しかし、イエスご自身は彼らにご自分をお委ねにならなかった。彼はすべての人をご存知であったからである。

25.　また、人間についての証しは誰からも必要となさらなかった。彼は人の内にあることを知っておられたからである。

Joh 2:1  And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee. And the mother of Jesus was there.

Joh 2:2  And Jesus and His disciples were both invited to the marriage.

Joh 2:3  And when they lacked wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, They have no wine.

Joh 2:4  Jesus said to her, Woman, what do I have to do with you? My hour has not yet come.

Joh 2:5  His mother said to the servants, Whatever He says to you, do it.

Joh 2:6  And there were six stone waterpots there, according to the purification of the Jews, each containing two or three measures.

Joh 2:7  Jesus said to them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

Joh 2:8  And He said to them, Now draw out and carry it to the master of the feast. And they carried it.

Joh 2:9  When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water which was made wine (and did not know where it was from, but the servants who drew the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.

Joh 2:10  And he said to him, Every man at the beginning sets forth good wine, and when men have drunk well, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now.

Joh 2:11  This beginning of miracles Jesus did in Cana of Galilee. And it revealed His glory. And His disciples believed on Him.

Joh 2:12  After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother and His brothers and His disciples. And they did not stay there many days.

Joh 2:13  And the Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

Joh 2:14  And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting.

Joh 2:15  And when He had made a scourge of small cords, He drove them all out of the temple, also the sheep and the oxen. And He poured out the money-changers' money and overthrew the tables.

Joh 2:16  And He said to those who sold doves, Take these things away from here. Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise.

Joh 2:17  And His disciples remembered that it was written, "The zeal of Your house has eaten Me up."

Joh 2:18  Then the Jews answered and said to Him, What sign do you show us, since you do these things?

Joh 2:19  Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.

Joh 2:20  Then the Jews said, This temple was forty-six years building, and will you rear it up in three days?

Joh 2:21  But He spoke of the temple of His body.

Joh 2:22  Therefore when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them, and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.

Joh 2:23  And as He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, at the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the miracles which He did.

Joh 2:24  But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all

Joh 2:25  and did not need that anyone should testify of man. For He knew what was in man.

１章　済

1.　始めに言葉があった。そしてその言葉は天の神と共にあった。そしてその言葉は天の神であった。

2.　彼は初めに天の神と共におられた。

3.　全てのものは、彼を通して存在するようになった。そして存在するもののうち、彼によらないものは何ひとつなかった。

4.　彼のうちに命があった。そしてその命は人々の光であった。

5.　そして光は闇の中に現れたが[1]闇はそれを覆わなかった。

6.　天の神から遣わされていた一人の人がいた。その名はヨハネといった。

7.　彼は全ての人が信じるための証人である。

8.　彼は光ではなかったが、光についての証しをするためにいた（遣わされていた）。

9.　全ての人を照らす真理の光があって、この世界[2]に来ようとしていた。

10.　彼はこの世界におられた。この世界は彼によってできたのにこの世界は彼を知らなかった。

11.　また、彼はご自分の者たちのところにお出でになったのに、ご自分の者たちは彼を受け入れなかった。

12.　しかし、彼を受け入れた全ての人、すなわち、彼の名を信じている人々には、彼は天の神の子となる権利をお授けになったのである。

13.　その人々は血統によらず、また肉の意思にもよらず、また人の意思によらないで、ただ天の神によって生まれたのである。

14.　そして、言葉は肉体となって私たちの間に住まわれた[3]。そして私たちは彼の栄光を見た。それは父のただお一人の御子としての栄光であって、恵みと真理とで満ちていた。

15.　ヨハネは彼の証をし、大声で叫んで言った。「この方こそ、私が『私の後からお出でになる方で、私よりも優れた方です。なぜなら彼は私よりも先におられたからです』と言っていたお方です。」

16.　そして、彼に満ちているものから私たち皆は受け、そのうえ恵みの上に恵みを与えられた。

17.　法はモーセを通して与えられた。しかし、恵みと真理とはイエス・キリストを通して来たのある。

18.　いまだかつて、誰も天の神を見た者はいない。父の懐におられるひとり子だけが、天の神（彼）を明らかにされたのである。

19.　ところで、これが、ユダヤ人たちがエルサレムから送ってきた祭司たちやレビ人たちの、「あなたは誰ですか」という問いに対するヨハネの証しである。

20 彼は、しかし告白して否定せず、「私はキリストではありません。」と言った。

21.　すると彼らは彼に問うた。「それならだれなのですか？あなたはエリヤですか？」彼は言った。「いいえ。私はそうではありません。」「あなたはあの預言者ですか？」すると彼は答えた。「いいえ。」

22.　それで彼らは彼に言った。「あなたは誰なのですか。私たちを遣わした人たちに答えられるようにして下さい。あなた自身をどう考えていますか？」

23.　彼は言った。「私は預言者イザヤが言っていた、『荒野で「主の道をまっすぐにせよ」と叫んでいる、声』です。」

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with God.

Joh 1:3  All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being.

Joh 1:5  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overtake it.

Joh 1:6  There was a man sent from God; his name was John.

Joh 1:7  This one came as a witness, to bear witness concerning the Light, so that all might believe through him.

Joh 1:8  He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

Joh 1:15  John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, This was He of whom I spoke: He who comes after me has been before me, for He was preceding me.

Joh 1:16  And out of His fullness we all have received, and grace for grace.

Joh 1:17  For the Law came through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Joh 1:18  No one has seen God at any time; the Only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

Joh 1:19  And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?

Joh 1:20  And he confessed and did not deny, but confessed, I am not the Christ.

Joh 1:21  And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah? And he says, I am not. Are you that prophet? And he answered, No.

Joh 1:22  Then they said to him, Who are you so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say of yourself?

Joh 1:23  He said, I am "the voice of one crying in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the Lord," as the prophet Isaiah said.

Joh 1:24  And they who were sent were from the Pharisees.

Joh 1:25  And they asked him and said, Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor that Prophet?

Joh 1:26  John answered them, saying, I baptize with water, but One stands among you whom you do not know.

Joh 1:27  He it is who, coming after me, who has been before me; of whom I am not worthy to loosen the thong of His sandal.

Joh 1:28  These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

Joh 1:29  The next day John sees Jesus coming to him and says, Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Joh 1:30  This is He of whom I said, After me comes a Man who has been before me, for He preceded me.

Joh 1:31  And I did not know Him, but that He be revealed to Israel, therefore I have come baptizing with water.

Joh 1:32  And John bore record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from Heaven like a dove, and He abode on Him.

Joh 1:33  And I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water, that One said to me, Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon Him, He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.

Joh 1:34  And I saw and bore record that this is the Son of God.

Joh 1:35  Again, the next day afterward, John stood with two of his disciples.

Joh 1:36  And looking upon Jesus as He walked, he says, Behold the Lamb of God!

Joh 1:37  And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

Joh 1:38  Then Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, What do you seek? They said to Him, Rabbi (which is called, being translated, Teacher), where do you live?

Joh 1:39  He says to them, Come and see. They came and saw where He lived, and stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.

Joh 1:40  One of the two who heard John and followed Him was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

Joh 1:41  He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being translated, the Christ).

Joh 1:42  And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus saw him, He said, You are Simon the son of Jonah; you shall be called Cephas (which translated is, A stone).

Joh 1:43  The day after, Jesus desired to go forth into Galilee. And He found Philip and said to him, Follow Me.

Joh 1:44  Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Joh 1:45  Philip found Nathanael and said to him, We have found Him of whom Moses wrote in the Law and the Prophets, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Joh 1:46  And Nathanael said to him, Can there be any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see.

Joh 1:47  Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him and said of him, Behold an Israelite indeed in whom is no guile!

Joh 1:48  Nathanael said to Him, From where do You know me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.

Joh 1:49  Nathanael answered and said to Him, Rabbi, You are the Son of God. You are the King of Israel!

Joh 1:50  Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You shall see greater things than these.

Joh 1:51  And He said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Hereafter you shall see Heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.

４章

1.　主は、ファリサイ派の人々がイエスがヨハネよりも多くの人々にバプテスマをしているのを聞いたと知られたので、

2.　（しかし、イエスご自身がバプテスマをなさっていたのではなく、彼の弟子たちであった。）

3．　彼はユダヤを離れて再びガリラヤへと発たれた。

4.　しかし、彼はサマリヤを通っていく[1]必要があった。

5.　そして、彼はサマリヤの町の一つにお出でになった。それはスカルと呼ばれ、ヤコブが彼の息子ヨセフに与えた土地の近くにあった。

6.　ところでそこにヤコブの井戸があった。イエスは（ご自分の）旅に疲れていたので、その井戸の傍らに座っておられた。それはおよそ第六の時であった。

7.　すると、一人のサマリヤの女性が水を汲みにやって来た。イエスは彼女に仰せになった。「私に水を飲ませてください。」

9.　その時サマリヤの女性は彼に言った。「ユダヤ人のあなたが、どうして私から水を飲ませてほしいと言うのですか。私はサマリヤの女ですよ？」ユダヤ人たちはサマリヤ人とは何の付き合いもしなかったからである。

10.　イエスは答えて彼女に仰せになった。「もしあなたが天の神の賜物を知っていたなら、また、あなたに『私に水を飲ませてください』と言っている者が誰かを知っていたなら、あなたに彼に生ける水を求め、彼はそれをあなたに与えるであろう。」

11.　その女性は彼に言った。「ご主人、あなたは汲むためのものを何も持っていません。そしてこの井戸は深いのです。それなら、どこからその生きた水を手に入れるのですか？

12.　あなたは、私たちの父ヤコブよりも偉いのですか。彼は私たちに井戸を下さったのです。また、彼自身もそれから飲みました。彼の息子たちも、家畜たちも同じようにしたのですが？」

13.　イエスは彼女に答えて仰せになった。「誰でもこの水を飲んでいる人はまた渇く。

14.　しかし、誰でも私が与える水を飲んでいる人は、決して渇く事がない。私がその人に与える水は、その人（彼）のなかで泉となって永遠の命に至る水が湧き上がるであろう。」

15.　その女性は彼に言った。「ご主人、私が乾かないで、ここに汲みに来なくてもよいように、私に水を下さい。」

16.　イエスは彼女に仰せになった。「行って、あなたの夫を呼んでしてここに来なさい。」

17.　その女性は答え、そして彼に言った。「私には夫はございません。」イエスは彼女に仰せになった。「あなたは良くぞ言ったものだ。『私には夫がない』と。

18.　実際、あなたには五人の夫がいたが、今の人はあなたの夫ではないからだ。あなたが言っている事は事実である。」

19.　その女性は彼に言った。「ご主人様、私はあなたが預言者ではないかと思います。

20.　私たちの祖先たちは、この山で礼拝をしていましたが、あなたがたユダヤ人たちはエルサレムこそが礼拝すべき場所だと言っています。」

21.　イエスは彼女に仰せになった。「女の人、私を信じていなさい。汝らが、この山でもエルサレムでもない場所で父を礼拝する時が来ようとしている。

22.　汝らは、汝らの知らない方を礼拝しているが、私たちは私たちが礼拝している方を知っている。救いはユダヤ人のものだからだ。

23.　しかし、真実の礼拝者たちが父を霊と真理とによって礼拝する時が来ている。そして、それは今である。父は、彼をそのように礼拝する人々を求めておられるからだ。

24.　天の神は霊だ。そして、彼を礼拝する人々は、霊と真実とによって礼拝しなければならない。」

36.　そして、刈っている人々は報酬を受けている。また、永遠の命のための実を集めている。それは、蒔いている人と刈っている人が一緒に喜ぶためだ。

37.　だから、こう言われているのは真実である。『一人が蒔く。そして一人は刈る。』

38.　私は汝らを、汝ら自身は働かないで、他の人々が働いてきたものを刈り取らせるために送り出した。そして、汝らは彼らの労働に加わっている。」

39.　さて、サマリヤの町の多くの人々が「彼は私が今までしたことを言い当てた」と証しした女性の言葉によって彼を信じた。

40.　そこで、そのサマリヤの人々は彼の所に来ると、彼に、彼らの所に滞在するように強いて　　願ったで彼はそこに二日間滞在された。

41.　そして、さらに多くの人々が彼ご自身の御言葉を聞いて信じた。

45.　彼がガリラヤにお出でになると、そのガリラヤの人々は彼が祭りの時にエルサレムでなさった事を全部見ていたので、彼を受け入れた。彼らもまたその祭りに行っていたからである。

46.　そこで、イエスは水をワインにされたガリラヤのカナに再び行かれた。すると、そこに息子がカペルナウムで病に伏している[3]有力者がいた。

47.　彼はイエスがユダからガリラヤにお出でになったことを聞きつけ、彼の所に来て、下ってきて彼が彼の息子を癒して下さるように嘆願した。彼は死にかかっていたからである。

48.　その時、イエスはに仰せになった。「あなたがたは徴と不思議とを見ない限り、決して信じない。」

49.　その有力者rは彼に言った。「主よ、私の子供が死ぬ前に下ってきて下さい！」

50.　イエスは彼に仰せになった。「帰りなさい。あなたの息子は生きている。」そこで、その男性はイエスが彼に仰せになった言葉を信じて帰って行った。

51.　そして、彼が下っていく途中に彼の僕たちが彼に会って言った。「あなたの息子様は生きております！」

52.　その時、彼は彼らに、何時に彼が良くなったのかと訪ねた。すると、彼らは彼に言った。「昨日の第七時頃、熱が引きました。」

53.　そこで、その父親はイエスが彼に「あなたの息子は生きている」と仰せになったのと同じ時間であったのを知った。そこで、彼自身は信じた。また彼の家の者たちも全員が信じた。

54.　これはイエスが、ユダヤから出てガリラヤにお入りになってからなさった二番目の徴である。

Joh 4:2  (though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples),

Joh 4:3  He left Judea and went away again into Galilee.

Joh 4:4  And it was necessary for Him to go through Samaria,

Joh 4:5  Then He came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

Joh 4:6  And Jacob's well was there. Jesus, therefore, being wearied with His journey, sat thus upon the well. It was about the sixth hour.

Joh 4:7  A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, Give me to drink.

Joh 4:8  (For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.)

Joh 4:9  Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, How do you, being a Jew, ask a drink of me, who am a woman of Samaria? For the Jews do not associate with Samaritans.

Joh 4:10  Jesus answered and said to her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give Me to drink, you would have asked of Him, and He would have given you living water.

Joh 4:11  The woman said to Him, Sir, you have no vessel, and the well is deep. From where then do you have that living water?

Joh 4:12  Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, and his children and his cattle?

Joh 4:13  Jesus answered and said to her, Whoever drinks of this water shall thirst again,

Joh 4:14  but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Joh 4:15  The woman said to Him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may not thirst nor come here to draw.

Joh 4:16  Jesus said to her, Go, call your husband and come here.

Joh 4:17  The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You have well said, I have no husband

Joh 4:18  for you have had five husbands, and he whom you now have is not your husband. In that you spoke truly.

Joh 4:19  The woman said to Him, Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

Joh 4:20  Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

Joh 4:21  Jesus said to her, Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you shall neither worship the Father in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem.

Joh 4:22  You worship what you do not know, we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.

Joh 4:23  But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to worship Him.

Joh 4:24  God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.

Joh 4:25  The woman said to Him, I know that Messiah is coming, who is called Christ. When He has come, He will tell us all things.

Joh 4:26  Jesus said to her, I AM, the One speaking to you.

Joh 4:27  And upon this His disciples came and marveled that He talked with the woman. However, no one said, What do You seek, or why do You talk with her?

Joh 4:28  The woman then left her waterpot and went into the city and said to the men,

Joh 4:29  Come see a man who told me all things that I ever did. Is this One not the Christ?

Joh 4:30  And they went out of the city and came to Him.

Joh 4:31  In the meantime His disciples were asking Him, saying, Master, eat.

Joh 4:32  But He said to them, I have food to eat which you do not know.

Joh 4:33  Therefore the disciples said to one another, No one brought Him anything to eat?

Joh 4:34  Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.

Joh 4:35  Do you not say, It is yet four months, and the harvest comes? Behold, I say to you, Lift up your eyes and look on the fields, for they are white to harvest already.

Joh 4:36  And he who reaps receives wages and gathers fruit to life eternal, so that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.

Joh 4:37  And in this is the saying true, One sows and another reaps.

Joh 4:38  I sent you to reap that on which you bestowed no labor. Other men labored, and you have entered into their labor.

Joh 4:39  And many of the Samaritans of that city believed upon Him because of the saying of the woman, who testified, He told me all that I ever did.

Joh 4:40  Then as the Samaritans had come to Him, they begged Him that He would stay with them. And He stayed there two days.

Joh 4:41  And many more believed because of His own word.

Joh 4:42  And they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying, for we have heard Him ourselves and know that this is truly the Christ, the Savior of the world.

Joh 4:43  And after two days He departed from there and went into Galilee.

Joh 4:44  For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own native-place.

Joh 4:45  Then when He had come into Galilee, the Galileans received Him, having seen all the things that He did at Jerusalem at the feast; for they also went to the feast.

Joh 4:46  Then Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee, where He made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.

Joh 4:47  When He heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and begged Him that He would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.

Joh 4:48  Then Jesus said to him, Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.

Joh 4:49  The nobleman said to Him, Sir, come down before my child dies.

Joh 4:50  Jesus said to him, Go, your son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken to him, and he went away.

Joh 4:51  And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, Your son lives.

Joh 4:52  Then he asked of them the hour when he began to get better. And they said to him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

Joh 4:53  So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, Your son lives. And he himself believed, and his whole house.

Joh 4:54  This is the second miracle Jesus did, when He had come out of Judea into Galilee.
